Born in 1973 in the UK. Lives in the UK
Through the use of surrogates, metaphor and symbolism, I put my concerns, beliefs and questions into my photographs. It’s a way of slowing the world down and creating order out of chaos.
I seek out locations, light and weather, that isolates and provides a stage for the gaze, gesture or object. I choose to photograph people I’m surrounded by, family and friends, so that I can recognize that moment when I don’t know them and make the picture. In that frame our relationship is somehow comprised and the familiar is foreign.
The photographs I am the most interested in have an element that I don’t quite understand. I want to be jolted and displaced by my pictures.
